what is a unesco creative city?

The UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) brings together cities that see creativity as a key driver for sustainable urban development.

Founded in 2004, the network now includes over 350 cities around the world, each committed to using culture and creative industries to shape their future. Member cities collaborate and share knowledge across seven creative fields: Music, Film, Literature, Gastronomy, Craft & Folk Arts, Design, and Media Arts.

Austin is one of 24 cities that celebrate innovation, culture, and community through media arts.
